Chinese mother 『steals』 her own ID papers from parents to donate liver to save sick baby daughter

A young mother from central China secretly donated parts of herliver to her young daughter suffering from a rare disease withouttelling most of her family after her parents opposed the move,according to a television news report.

Jiang Liuxin, 22, from Yidu in Hubei province, had to steal herown ID documents from her parents to get approval for thetransplant for her seven-month-old daughter on Friday in Shanghai,Yidu Television reported.

They had kept a close watch on the documents to prevent her fromhaving the surgery.


Jiang』s daughter was born in September suffering from jaundice.She was later diagnosed with a serious liver disease, the reportsaid.

A transplant from a parent was deemed the best solution to treatthe baby as her liver function deteriorated quickly after herbirth.

But Jiang』s parents and other relatives all opposed the ideaeven though she had collected enough money to pay for the surgery.The report did not make clear why the parents objected, butsuggested they may have feared the operation would harm themother』s health.

「I pity my child and my parents pity me too, so they disagreedwith the transplant,」 Jiang told the television station.


Jiang was determined to save her daughter and took her IDdocuments secretly when her parents were away from home.

「I』m really sorry to my parents, but I had no choice. My husbandand I believe we need to take full responsibility for ourdaughter,」 Jiang was quoted as saying. 「I would try anything tosave her,」 she said.

The surgery was successful, but her daughter will still needfurther treatment, the report said.
