YouTube bolsters security worldwide after shooting

Google announced Thursday that it would increase security inYouTube offices around the world in the wake of the shooting by adisgruntled vlogger at the video giant』s headquarters.

Nasim Aghdam wounded three people at YouTube』s campus near SanFrancisco on Tuesday before turning her gun on herself. She hadposted messages online claiming YouTube censored her videos.

Google, which owns YouTube, released a statement on Twitter inwhich it called the shooting 「shocking and disturbing」—and praisedthe 「heroic acts」 of staffers and first responders.

「Thanks to the security protections in place, (Aghdam) neverentered the building itself. Within two minutes of our 911 call,San Bruno police arrived on the scene,」 the statement read.

「The officers responding to the scene were exceptional. Theyentered our building to protect the lives of our employees.」

Google said YouTube workers have been encouraged to take timeoff — or work from home — and that the company was providingsupport services.
