Bruny Island is a 362-square-kilometre (89,000-acre) island located off the south-eastern coast of Tasmania, Australia. The island is separated from the Tasmanian mainland by the D』Entrecasteaux Channel, and its east coast lies within the Tasman Sea. 

 

Storm Bay is located to the island's northeast. Both the island and the channel are named after French explorer Bruni d'Entrecasteaux. Its traditional Aboriginal name is lunawanna-allonah, which survives as the name of two island settlements, Alonnah and Lunawanna.

1. The Neck, Burny Island 

Bruny Island Neck is an isthmus of land connecting north and south Bruny Island, southern Tasmania

 

The Neck is an important habitat for Bruny』s native wildlife, and here you』ll find the Neck Game Reserve. Boardwalks and viewing platforms enable you to observe short-tailed shearwaters and little penguins (also known as fairy penguins).

 

Timber stairs lead from the dunes to the Neck lookout, offering stunning 360 degree views. You』ll find a memorial here to the indigenous Nuenonne people who lived on Lunnawannalonna (Bruny Island) before the European settlement of Bruny.

Adventure Bay is the name of both a township and a geographical feature on the eastern side of Bruny Island, Tasmania just beside The Neck.

2. South Bruny National Park

The South Bruny National Park is a national park located on Bruny Island, Tasmania, Australia, about 50 kilometres (31 mi) south of Hobart. The park contains the Cape Bruny Lighthouse

 

The Cape Bruny Lighthouse is an inactive lighthouse located at the southern tip of Bruny Island, Tasmania, Australia.

It is the second oldest extant lighthouse tower in Australia, as well as having the longest (158 years) history of being continuously manned. It was first lit in March 1838 and was eventually decommissioned on 6 August 1996

3.Cape Queen Elizabeth

Cape Queen Elizabeth is located in the southeastern corner of North Bruny Island.

 

The Cape Queen Elizabeth walk begins near the Bruny Island airstrip, where there is parking for several vehicles. The track runs between Big Lagoon and Little Lagoon.

 

The track to Cape Queen Elizabeth ascends steeply through coastal vegetation, providing excellent views of Adventure Bay and beyond. Allow about 3 hours return for this walk.
